WSI Receives Excellence in Exporting Award

On May 17, 2007 at the World Trade Day luncheon in Denver, Colorado Governor Bill Ritter announced this year's winners of the Governor's Award for Excellence in Exporting. The award honors Colorado companies that have made outstanding contributions to exporting during the past year.

Western Slope Industries, of Grand Junction, Colorado was chosen as the winner for the Large-Sized Manufacturing Company category.

WSI's export business has steadily increased over the past 18 months due to strong sales of machinery used to manufacture liquid packaging cartons and conventional folding cartons. Since acquiring the International Paper Box Machine Company (IPBM), and working with IPBM Geneva, Switzerland WSI has shipped IPBM equipment to Russia, Korea, and Japan.

In addition to capital equipment, WSI provides replacement parts for older IPBM and Multifold International machines in service worldwide. Parts and equipment are sold directly to Canadian companies and sold through agents to locations in other countries around the world.

WSI is a closely held company and has been a leading manufacturer of folding carton equipment and custom-designed machines for the paper converting industry for nearly 25 years. Over 100 people are employed in manufacturing, engineering, technical services, sales and administrative positions.
