WSI Express PackerOperationThe WSI Express Packer is set up directly in line with the gluer's delivery blanket. Folded and glued cartons enter the packer's in-feed hopper where a constant running patter keeps cartons aligned. The hopper control automatically starts and stops the Express Packer's variable speed drive to match its speed to the gluer's speed. Cartons are re-shingled from the packer’s hopper to maintain good separation and an even shingle. The carton stream is carried up the incline belts, over a slight curve and discharged on to a takeaway conveyor. As they move on to the takeaway conveyor, cartons are counted by a photocell scanner beam. Cartons then accelerate into the elevator area and are stacked downward. When the preset count is reached, the elevator drops down rapidly and disappears under a carpeted floor. (During this sequence, an erected corrugated case has been placed on the vacuum case rack and tilted into packing position). Compression fingers come down on top of the stack and the pusher pushes the stack into the case. The filled case pivots back to horizontal and the discharge table lifts up. The case then rolls off to the inspection table where it is staged until the next filled case is ready to be discharged. Depending upon customer needs, the pusher setup can be ordered with left-side push, right-side push, or end-seam push capabilities, or a combination of packing modes. A WSI Case Positioner and a corrugated case erector are typically used with the packer for a completely automated function. WSI Express Packer features
